Starlight Youth Theatre Group is the newest branch of St Andrew’s Pantomime Group aimed at the group’s youngest members. Starlight welcomes young people (aged 7 – 14 years) who have an interest in all aspects of theatre production. Starlight provides an opportunity for young people to try their hands at script writing, prop making, set design, lighting, sound effects, stage direction and choreography. The young people work together to plan, rehearse and perform a show for family and friends. So far the young people of Starlight have staged four fantastic shows:
- Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (2012)
- Oz – Starlight Style (2013)
- A Magical Mystery Tour (2014)
- Mackenzie (2015)
All four shows have been incredibly successful, both in terms of the quality of the performances and the amount of money that has been raised for children’s charities. Over the four years Starlight has contributed approx. £3000 to St Andrew’s Pantomime Group charity pot, with donations being made to Hollybank Trust, Martin House and Candlelighters amongst others.
Starlight meets every Thursday evening (6pm – 7.30pm) throughout the Spring and early Summer. Click below to find out more about our show for 2015… “Mackenzie” (A story about a young boy with magical powers, based on the Roald Dahl book Matilda)
