As many, if not all of you know, Alan Makinson, our long standing and much loved Musical Director, sadly passed away in January of 2017. It was a huge loss for the Group and, of course, even more so for his close-knit family.
It has taken almost two years for Steve and Lisa to be able to organise a memorial concert in his name, which would serve as great testimony to his memory and a fund raiser for causes close to his heart.
So on Sunday the 23rd November 2019 at 4:30, the Parochial Hall at Middleton was packed with friends and colleagues of Alan’s all of whom had come to pay their own personal tribute.
The concert was a huge success, and we saw the adorable children from the schools where Alan taught peripatetic music for many years performing there own favourite songs from their time with him, LAOS were there bringing to life some of the music they too had shared with Alan in the past and the Pantomime Group was proud to be invited to perform also.
We staged the finale number from our forthcoming production of Goldilocks and finished with a singalong rendition of Ring Out The Bells.
A great time was had by all in what was a superb tribute to a much loved man.
